Scouting for Sustainability (Greece)

The Litter Less Campaign was implemented through the YRE Scout Network, involving 160 scout groups and 2,013 scouts nationwide. The campaign focused on responsible consumption, circular economy, waste reduction, and invisible pollutants, guided by the LLC Earth Tribe Challenge and supported by resources such as the Scouts Litter Less Activity List and lesson plans.

A key highlight was a cross-border collaboration between Greek and Portuguese scouts, who planned and executed three major community service activities, two of which took place during the Global Action Days 2025. These events not only engaged local communities but also fostered powerful peer learning and international exchange. As one participant reflected, “It was a life-changing experience… a unique opportunity to realize the strength of our initiatives and create a sustainable future for all.”

While no formal entries were submitted this year, the campaign successfully activated meaningful dialogue and environmental action among young people. Integrating Litter Less into the Scout programme has proven to be a powerful tool — helping youth move beyond traditional nature protection to actively explore how to reduce their environmental footprint through lifestyle choices and local initiatives.
