We are excited to announce the shortlisted entries for the 2024–2025 Young Reporters for the Environment (YRE) International Competition! This year’s theme, Ecosystem Restoration, inspired a wave of powerful submissions, from articles to photos, podcasts, and videos, demonstrating young reporters’ passion for environmental storytelling, leadership and action. We also welcomed entries from partners including the World Organization of the Scout Movement and ASPNet Schools. A total of 62 entries have been selected by our review panel to advance to the final round with the International Jury.
30 national podcasts were submitted this year, all have been declared winners and will each receive the Gosia Luszczek Podcasting Award🏅

YRE is a Leadership and Community Programme
For over 30 years the Young Reporters for the Environment (YRE) programme, international competition and global network have been equipping and mentoring future leaders to investigate environmental issues and drive positive, solution focused change. Suitable for young people aged 11-25 in both formal and non formal education settings, the four steps of YRE provide young people with valuable life skills and knowledge to leverage media and their own voices. Through the programme these young influencers become powerful advocates within their communities, inspiring all those around them. Our young reporters for the environment are not simply inheriting a future sustainable world – they are the ones actively shaping it.
