Environmental Journalism: Writing

Words are powerful tool to bring about positive change which is why in this course you’ll learn how to use them to write informative, engaging and effective journalistic articles about an environmental issue affecting your local environment. By going through the YRE methodology, you’ll learn how to investigate and conduct research on your topic, do interviews, and create a well-structured and impactful journalistic article. The last step of the course is to share your final article to help raise awareness of the environmental issue you’re passionate about!

Time Required: 8-10 Hours

Target Group: Young People, Ages 14-25

Environmental Journalism: Videography

Come learn the basics of videography through the environmental lens of the Young Reporters for the Environment programme! This course will help you figure out WHAT you want to shoot, HOW to put your ideas onto the big screen and WHY film is a powerful tool to raise awareness about environmental issues and SOLUTIONS in your community. By the end of the course, you’ll have created your very own short environmental film!

Time Required: 12-15 Hours

In this course, you’ll learn how to use photography as a powerful storytelling tool by going through each step of the YRE methodology (investigate, research solutions, report, and disseminate) in order to create an impactful photograph that raises awareness about an environmental issue you’re passionate about.

Time Required: 6-8 Hours
