Resources for Young Reporters and Educators

We realize that COVID-19 has changed many things - the way we learn and go to school, the way we do our jobs, and even how we live our day-to-day lives. One thing that hasn’t changed, however, is the importance of empowering young people to use their voices to bring positive change.

If COVID-19 has taught us anything, it’s that our actions have an impact on others and our environment. In the same way, we still believe that our Young Reporters can have a positive impact on their communities and environment. So, we’ve compiled some resources that we hope will support students and educators in empowering young people to use their voice to speak out on environmental issues - even during COVID-19.

An advantage of journalism is its adaptable nature! We’ve included a number of lesson plans on environmental journalism that teachers can adapt to their different contexts. Webinars, online courses and educational videos like those from TEDEd also make a great learning tool!

For young people looking to develop their journalistic skills, whether it’s conducting interviews over video calls, learning more about the Sustainable Development Goals or sharing your work with other young people over UNICEF’s Voices of Youth platform, there are a number of resources available to support you.
